Baggage subject to restrictions

Important Notice

There have been many troubles that involve transportation of cordless hair iron with non-removable built-in lithium-ion battery and mobile battery with built-in lithium-ion battery.

Those items are categorized as "dangerous goods". Please check the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism website for the transportation conditions by yourself.

Restrictions on baggage

Following items cannot be brought on board or being checked in.

Cannot be brought on board or checked in
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks (including toy fireworks like pull-string firecrackers)
  • Self-heating bento boxes, self-heating beverages
  • Flammable or combustible items(lighters for smoking*1, gas oil for lighters, gas canister, paint and the like, and spray cans*2)
  • Corrosive materials
  • Items that may endanger the aircraft, passengers, or property on board
  • Sweet potatoes (excluding those publicly disinfected), Japanese morning glory, etc. produced in Okinawa and Amami islands as well as untested citrus seedlings and seed trees from Okinawa
  • Only one smoking lighter (liquefied gas lighter, oil lighter that uses an absorbent to absorb the lighter fuel) or packet of safety matches (small one) can be carried on board.
    Lighters with strong blue flames, such as premixing lighters (turbo lighters, jet lighters, blue flame lighters), cannot be carried on board or checked in. (Premixing lighters are those with blue flame mainly used for cigars.)

If you have dangerous goods that cannot be carried on board or checked in, dispose of them in the abandoned item bin, etc., which are installed at the security checkpoint.

  • Items that could be used as weapons(Knives cannot be carried on board regardless of their types.)
  • Tools
  • Sharp objects
  • Baseball Bats
  • Golf clubs
  • Toy guns, handcuffs, and other items that may cause misunderstanding or fear to other passengers

If you have any items that are restricted from being brought on board, put them in the baggage to be checked in or dispose of them in the abandoned item bin, etc., which are installed at the security checkpoint.

  • Do not put valuables or fragile items in your baggage to be checked in.
    Example of valuables and fragile goods:
    • Money, precious metals, jewelry, negotiable and other securities, works of art, antiques or other valuables
    • Watches, cameras, PCs and peripheral devices, glass product
    • Documents, (electronic) data, smartphones, passports or other identification documents necessary for travel
    • Cards, cash vouchers, passbooks, checks, commuter passes, keys, mementos, medicines
  • The maximum compensation amount for baggage and personal belongings without a declared value is JPY 150,000 per customer. If the actual value exceeds JPY 150,000, a value-based fee system applies. Please consult with the staff when checking in your baggage at the departure airport.
    Please note that the compensation amount will not exceed the actual value. This system only applies when the company is responsible, which differs from the insurance system.
  • For carrying alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of more than 24% and up to 70%, the volume should be limited to 5 liters per person, both carry-on and checked baggage.
  • If you have other questions, do not hesitate to ask the Solaseed Air staff.

Baggage requiring special attention

Transportation by air of items that may explode, are flammable, or may cause harm to people or damage other property is prohibited by law and thus cannot be checked in or carried on board.
You cannot carry knives or other items that may be used as weapons on board.

Please confirm in advance whether there is any item that is categorized as dangerous goods.

Spare Electric Wheelchair Batteries

The following is applicable only if the electric wheelchair will be transported by the passenger intending to use it as a walking aid.
Please note that spare batteries cannot be transported on their own as they must be transported together with the actual electric wheelchair.

  • Batteries installed in the main wheelchair body are not included in the spare batteries.
  • When removing batteries, package them before boarding so that they will be protected against any impact.
  • If the capacity is not stated by watt-hour rating (Wh) on your batteries, use the following formula.
    The handling differs depending on its capacity.

  • Although quantity restrictions are not stipulated in the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's standards, Solaseed Air has implemented its own restrictions in accordance with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
