Smart baggage is baggage with built-in battery-powered equipment to provide functionality such as the ability to charge other electronic devices. The handling of smart baggage that contains lithium batteries or lithium-ion batteries differs according to whether or not the battery is removable. (This does not apply to button cells.)

Electronic cigarettes that produce smoke without the use of a flame (e.g. iQOS) are allowed in carry-on baggage, but not in checked baggage.
Furthermore, the use of electronic cigarettes while on board is prohibited due to the fact that it could make other passengers feel uncomfortable or cause misunderstanding.

The handling of alcoholic beverages differs according to the alcohol content.

Each passenger may take one avalanche rescue backpack as carry-on or checked baggage as long as it is confirmed to meet the requirements below. Please bring the manual or another document that shows your backpack meets the requirements.

• Gunpowder content must be 200 mg or less.
• Any compressed gas that is used must not be flammable or toxic.
• The backpack must be packed in such a manner that it cannot be accidentally activated, and the airbags within the backpack must have pressure release valves.

Up to two life vest with small cartridge filled with carbon dioxide gas attached (up to two cartridge per one life vest) per person, and up to two spare cartridge per one life vest can be checked in or carried on board.

Battery-operated underwater torches (lights for scuba diving) or soldering irons, etc.

• Items with their battery removed to prevent accidental operation during transport can be checked in or carried on board without restrictions.
• The removed lithium batteries are only permitted to be carried on board.
• Soldering irons with pointed ends are not permitted to be carried on board.

Experimental drugs in development can only be checked in or carried on board if the following conditions are met.
As it may take some time for the security check and necessary confirmation, please arrive at the airport with adequate time to spare.

• The passenger has a document stating that it is an experimental drug.
• There is no "three-leaf mark" indicating that the drug is radioactive on the outer container.
• Security check standards (*) established in the Civil Aeronautics Act of Japan are met.
  • Liquid experimental drugs need to undergo a liquid inspection or will be opened for inspection in order to allow them to be carried on board. Please note that if the container cannot be opened, the item may not be permitted to be checked in or carried on board.
• The quantity restrictions are 0.5 L or 0.5 kg per container, and 2 L or 2 kg per person.
